How do you manage to juggle work, study, training, social life etc./any wise words for aspiring water polo players?
It is all about finding a good balance. I don't have much time to work or hang out with my friends because school and water polo are my priorities. However, it is good to take a break sometimes and see your friends.
When did you start playing water polo?
I started playing water polo in Year 5. I would swim on the side of my sister's training and try to copy them.
What is your favourite water polo memory at home?
Achieving the Most Valuable Player award at Under 16 Nationals in 2014.
What has been your international water polo highlight?
My favourite international water polo highlight would be beating the Australian schoolgirls team in a three game test series last year.
When your alarm goes off at 5:30 in the morning, what gets you out of bed?
Knowing that I would be letting my team down if I am unfit and slow.
What are you looking to accomplish in water polo? Why do you play?
I want to be able to get a scholarship for water polo so that I can attend university for engineering without it leaving me with a massive student loan.
What is the biggest barrier for you playing water polo?
Having five kids in my family who all play high-level sport. It is a huge ask for my parents to pay for all of our trips and competitions both domestic and overseas.
What has New Zealand Water Polo given you personally?
Water polo has helped me gain a strong work ethic that no only is evident when I play and train but also at school because I am always stiving to achieve at a high level and do my best.
