How do you manage to juggle work, study, training, social life etc./any wise words for aspiring water polo players?

I enter everything into my calendar and have my week planned out so I can achieve everything. Also I prioritise more important things.

 

When did you start playing water polo?

At Takapuna Normal Intermediate School playing at Glenfield Leisure Centre. My friends dragged me along to the meeting at school.

 

What is your favourite water polo memory at home?

In 2009 - my first year as the first North Harbour goalie. We ended up in a penalty shootout with Marist and only one of their shots went in - I was awarded Most Valuable Player.

 

What has been your international water polo highlight?

Beating Japan in FINA World League 2013 in a penalty shootout where I blocked a few of the shots.

 

When your alarm goes off at 5:30 in the morning, what gets you out of bed?

"Sarah is going to kill me if I don't go and I don't want to disappoint her.

What are you looking to accomplish in water polo? Why do you play?

Place within the top 10 in Kazan at FINA World Champs this year, and represent my country with pride.

 

What is the biggest barrier for you playing water polo?

Financial would be the major barrier. I also find that as a teacher I tire myself at work and then need to train at night or in the morning and it's quite hard.

 

What has New Zealand Water Polo given you personally?

There are some skills that I have learn over time and these are; self-discipline, time management, and dealing with people who annoy you.
