How do you manage to juggle work, study, training, social life etc./any wise words for aspiring water polo players?

Creating a timetable and planning each week in advance. Also by prioritising my time.

 

When did you start playing water polo?

My father got me into it by starting with flippa ball.

 

What is your favourite water polo memory at home?

Scoring the winning goal at Under 14 Nationals in 2009 against Marist.

 

What has been your international water polo highlight?

I would say the highlight of international water polo would be getting the opportunity to play against some of the best water polo players in the world and experience the highest level of play.

 

When your alarm goes off at 5:30 in the morning, what gets you out of bed?

Knowing that I am improving my fitness and skills.

What are you looking to accomplish in water polo? Why do you play?

In water polo I look to accomplish playing at the highest level at the sport I love and a sport that have been in my family for generations. I play because it's a great sport and to make my family proud of what I can achieve.

 

What is the biggest barrier for you playing water polo?

There are mental, physical, and financial barriers, and they are always a battle to push through.

 

What has New Zealand Water Polo given you personally?

I have learned how to prioritise my time accordingly. Also, water polo brings my family together - having a family history pushes me to train hard and keep it alive.

 

What are your aspirations for Olympic Qualifiers in Gouda?
I expect Gouda to be one of the hardest competitions that I will play so far in my Water polo career. I believe our team can get up there amongst some of the most talented players with in the sport. I also believe that this tournament is one of the major stepping stones towards building a stronger campaign for Tokyo 2020.
